Originally constructed in 1927 as an apartment house, the Raphael's Old World styling was intended to complement the Spanish-influenced design of the adjoining Country Club Plaza.

This architecturally stunning nine-story brick building has been faithfully preserved. Its apartments have been converted into 35 rooms and 88 suites capture the charm of a bygone era, with plenty of modern amenities: two phones, remote control cable TV's, in house movies, refrigerators, private bars, twice-daily maid service, and more. Eighteen of the suites serve beautifully for corporate meetings and social groups of up to twelve people.

The Raphael Restaurant repeats the rooms and suites' cozy ambience, creating a perfect setting for its rotating menu of creative Continental cuisine, which includes pork and lamb along with selections of pasta, fresh fish, and prime Kansas City beef. After dinner, the Raphael Lounge earns its title as one of the most romantic bars in Kansas City, especially on weekends when live music joins the mix.
